MITHRAEL, light-bringer, sun-keeper, the light in the dark. Mithrael is one of the first seraphim, and currently stands as the Unconquered Sun, the Commander of the Divine Legion, the Keeper of the Sun, Stars, and Celestial Boundaries, he who oversees covenant, bond, justice and retribution. In the past, his only dominion was the sun. Among God's legions he stood second, shoulder-to-shoulder with Wormwood, keeper of the stars, his most-loved brother. When Wormwood's ambitions led to him betraying Heaven and causing the outbreak of a war between worlds, it also led to the death of Caelus, the seraph who held dominion over the skies and celestial boundaries. Caelus may have been Wormwood's lover, but Mithrael loved them both deeply, and he was utterly devastated at both the betrayal and Caelus' death. With all of heaven in despair over the treachery and loss, Mithrael stepped up to take command of heaven's forces to fight back the legions of hell, eventually successfully sealing hell back, now with the skies and stars borne on his own shoulders. Mithrael personally saw to Wormwood's punishment, leaving him with his brand and casting him down to live as a sin demon for the rest of his eternal life. It is mostly through his own work and power that Caelus has been reborn, without his memory and pain, but bound to Earth. He now spends much of his time under an archangel alias, watching over Caelus on Earth and hoping that he might one day gain enough strength to return to the heavens once more. |
